Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero has broken his silence after the defending Premier League champions were charged with allegedly breaking financial rules.
City were hit with the shock charges earlier this month, with the club accused of breaching more than 100 financial rules from 2009 to 2018.
The Premier League club have vehemently denied any wrongdoings, but an independent commission is now looking into the allegations even further.

City could face potential punishments including fines, points deduction or Premier League expulsion if they are charged with breaking financial rules.
A potential points deduction across more than one season for City could see the club lose multiple Premier League titles.
Aguero arrived at City in 2011 from Atletico Madrid and spent a decade at the Etihad, with the Argentine lifting five Premier League titles with the club.

The 34-year-old ex-striker, who is City’s all-time top goalscorer, went on to play for Barcelona for a short spell before he was forced to retire due to a heart condition.
A winner of five of City’s six Premier League titles, Aguero was asked how he would feel if he were forced to return a winners’ medal if the club were hit with a points sanction.
The former Argentina international insisted that he was aware of City’s statement on the matter and the club’s title wins were achieved “through their own merit.”
“I have read the statement from City and they have made their position clear and surely everything will become clear,” he told Stake.com.

“It already happened in the past. What is clear is that all the titles City won were on the pitch and through their own merit.”
