Argentina legend Lionel Messi used to ask close friend Sergio Aguero about one Manchester City player.
Since Pep Guardiola walked through the doors at the Etihad Stadium in 2016, City have dominated English football and become a powerhouse in Europe.
Under the guidance of Guardiola, City won six Premier League titles, one Champions League and four League Cups among other trophies.

In addition, the former Barcelona boss has also managed some big players such as Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, Aguero and David Silva.
Due to Guardiola’s involvement, The Telegraph claims there's always been a 'degree of fascination' around City at the Camp Nou.
Eight-time Ballon d'Or winner Messi paid attention to the players Guardiola had at his disposal. One in particular caught his eye more than most.

It has been claimed that Messi and Javier Mascherano regularly contacted Aguero to ask about the development of Phil Foden.
The duo asked what 'that kid Foden is like' as a youngster coming through the ranks at the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola handed Foden his debut as a 17-year-old against Feyenoord in the Champions League in 2017.
Since making his debut, Foden has developed into one of the best players in the country, scoring 88 goals in 277 appearances for City.

On the international stage, the 24-year-old has been capped 43 times by England, netting four goals in the process.
Back in 2019, Guardiola said Foden was the most talented player he has seen in his career.
He said: “I have said many times in press conferences, but maybe not said it in front of him. Phil is the most, most, most talented player I have ever seen in my career as a manager. He has everything to become one of the best players.”

So far in the 24/25 season, Foden has made seven appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and also assisting one.
