A new bombshell report from David Ornstein has revealed that Carlo Ancelotti is set to leave Real Madrid and his replacement has already been decided.
On Wednesday night, Real Madrid crashed out of the Champions League after losing the second leg of their quarter-final clash with Arsenal 2-1, having lost the previous leg 3-0.
Immediately after the match, reports began circulating that Ancelotti's time as manager of Los Blancos could soon come to an end, leading to speculation over who would replace him and what would be next for the Italian.

But now, a new report from The Athletic journalist Ornstein has revealed the answer to both questions, as he confirmed that Ancelotti expected to leave his position as Real Madrid manager.
Being the manager of the biggest club in the world comes with expectations to win the biggest trophies in football, something that Real Madrid may struggle to do this season.
As it stands, Madrid are out of the Champions League and are seven points behind Barcelona in La Liga, with their best chance of a trophy this season being the upcoming Cope del Rey final against Barcelona on April 26.

And, according to The Athletic's report, it is expected that this cup final will be Ancelotti's last match in charge of Real Madrid, who must clarify their managerial situation before the Club World Cup gets underway in early June.
Ancelotti has made it clear publicly that he will only leave Madrid should the club decide to move him on, and if this is to happen, then the report claims that Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso is in pole position to take over at the Bernabeu.
Club officials are said to have already made an approach to their former star player, who has impressed since taking charge of Leverkusen in 2022, leading to a historic unbeaten domestic double in 2024.

What's next for Ancelotti?
But it would appear that Ancelotti will not be out of work for long, as The Athletic have also revealed that he will likely take the vacant role as Brazil's national manager should he be dismissed by Real Madrid.

The report claims: "Ancelotti has a number of options available — including staying at Madrid in a non-coaching role — but his preference is to join Brazil, who are searching for a new head coach following the sacking of Dorival Junior in March."
The Brazilian Football Confederation have held an interest in appointing Ancelotti for several months, viewing him as the dream option with the hope that he could the team into the 2026 World Cup in North America.
