Marseilles sporting director Medhi Benatia has addressed rumours regarding Mason Greenwood in a furious interview.
After making 129 appearances for Manchester United, Greenwood left the Premier League last year to try to rebuild his career outside of England, after he was charged with attempted rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour.
The charges against the forward were later dropped in February 2023, leading to him joining Spanish side Getafe before signing for Ligue 1 club Marseille in August 2023.

Following a successful first season in France, all appeared to be well for Greenwood, but rumours suggested that this all changed after two of his teammates made demands about the Englishman's future at the team.
Former Tottenham Htospur star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and France international Adrien Rabiot both joined Marseille over the summer and have regularly featured for the Ligue 1 side this season.
Recent reports suggested that the pair were growing increasingly frustrated at playing alongside Greenwood, leading them to making demands club’s director of football, Benatia. that both he and teammate Luis Henrique be removed from the squad.

However, Benatia has now spoken out to deny the validity of these rumours, saying that this reported conversation never happened.
In an angry response to the reports, he said to La Provence: “Can you imagine? He didn’t come to see me. And what’s more, do you think I need a player to tell me that?
“Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is one of the most professional in the locker room, a guy who only wants to unite and carry everyone along with him, like Rabiot.
“Today, Adri is dying inside, he only wants one thing: to reach the Champions League. These two are truly two examples, and at no point did they come to see me to dismiss Luis Henrique or Greenwood. The people who say that don't want the best for OM.”

Despite Benatia's claims. things have not been going well for Marseille and Greenwood in recent weeks.
Roberto de Zerbi's side have lost five out of their last seven games, leaving them outside of the Champions League places in fourth.
Meanwhile, Greenwood was recently dropped from the starting line-up due to a spell of poor form that saw him score just one goal in his last five league appearances.
