With new Brexit regulations preventing Liverpool from signing under-18s from overseas, they’ve had to take a local approach towards academy recruitment.
And off the back of signing the likes of Calum Scanlon, Ben Doak, Bobby Clark, and Kaide Gordon, the Reds have signed 16-year-old winger Trent Kone-Doherty.
The teenager arrives from boyhood club Derry City, and Liverpool will pay Derry £150,000 in compensation following Kone-Doherty’s arrival.

The 16-year-old is set to join up with the Liverpool under-18s side next season, evidence of how highly the club rate him.
Following the move, Trent said: "Surreal to have signed with this great club. Excited for what the future holds!"

The youngster will no doubt be looking to his namesake Trent Alexander-Arnold as an inspirational figure.
Alexander-Arnold has established himself as one of the most successful academy graduates in Liverpool history in recent years.
His ascendency to first-team heroism provides hope to fellow youngsters at Liverpool who hope of breaking into the senior set-up.
Kone-Doherty though cannot sign a professional contract with Liverpool just yet.

That privilege arrives next summer when he turns 17, when he is expected to sign a three-year deal with the Reds.
Kone-Doherty will look at the squad refresh potentially taking place over the next few years on Merseyside and hope first team opportunities will eventually arrive.
The stars of Jürgen Klopp’s current squad which have delivered so much glory to Liverpool over the last few years are ageing.
In attack, where Kone-Doherty would prefer to ply his trade, there will be places up for grabs as time passes at Anfield.

The legendary trio of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mané has finally been broken up following Mané’s move to Bayern.
And Salah and Firmino are both now the wrong side of 30. A new era of Liverpool’s attack will soon be upon us.
