Man City set to complete €60m signing as Fabrizio Romano drops huge news with hours to go on deadline day

Man City set to complete €60m signing as Fabrizio Romano drops huge news with hours to go on deadline day

Manchester Cty are set to add to their playing squad before the transfer deadline.

Manchester City are reportedly set to complete a €60 million signing before Monday's transfer deadline.

City were in Premier League action on Sunday afternoon as they took on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

However, Pep Guardiola's men produced a dismal performance as Arsenal thrashed them 5-1 to close the gap to Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Kai Havertz and Ethan Nwaneri were the scorers for Mikel Arteta's men while Erling Haaland netted for the visitors.

As a result, City are now 15 points behind leaders Liverpool, with Arsenal just six behind Arne Slot's men.

On the back of the result, City are set to add more new faces to the squad before the 11pm deadline.

As reported by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, who wrote on social media: "EXCLUSIVE: Nico González to Manchester City, here we go! New midfielder for Pep Guardiola as Man City will pay same amount as release clause worth €60m with different structure.

"Nico, allowed to travel for medical and contract signing soon. Exclusive story, confirmed."

So far in the 24/25 season, Gonzalez has made a total of 29 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals and six assists.

Speaking after the heavy defeat by Arsenal, Guardiola said: "Now we have to reflect and talk with the players and hope that it doesn't happen again.

"The priority was long balls and what happened every time we put long balls? We lost them. They (Arsenal) came back stronger. Playing long balls against (William) Saliba and Gabriel is not easy — not even for Erling, for any striker.

"The game was well played but of course, when you play like that in the last 20 minutes, everyone was tired and affected emotionally but it's what we had to learn."

City are back in this weekend when they take on Leyton Orient in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
