
Former Watford striker Troy Deeney has shown a red card on his Baller League debut after a horror challenge.
On Monday evening, matchday five of the new Baller League kicked off at the Copper Box Arena, with teams led by social media stars Angry Ginge or Miniminter competing against some led by the likes of Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer.
Ahead of the games fifth games of the season, several teams decided to utilise the 'wildcard' rule, allowing them to bring in a player for their team for that single match.

However, one Premier League legend's team may have regretted using their wildcard to bring former Watford forward Deeney into their team this week, as he was quickly sent off in a horrific moment in the match.
In the first match on Monday night, Wembley Rangers, the Baller League team managed by Arsenal legends Ian Wright and Chloe Kelly, faced off against FC RTW, managed by social media personality Clint.
Ahead of the match, Wright and Kelly used their wildcard to bring Deeney in to reinforce their front line, leading to excitement among fans keen to see the EFL legend play once again..

But the excitement quickly turned to despair, as referee Mark Clattenberg showed Deeney a red card in the second half of the match for a reckless and cynical challenge on Tareiq Holmes-Dennis
Throughout his debut, Deeney clearly made his physical presence known, as he fully committed his body to tackle, taking his opponents to the ground.

But eventually, both Clattenberg and fans had enough, with one fan joking on social media: "Troy Deeney's warming up for Wrestlemania."
While another, less excited fan, wrote: "What an embarrassment he is making of himself. And what a awful first touch."
And another angry fan claimed: "Very arrogant for someone who’s not actually done a lot in football."

The Wembley Rangers ended up losing the match 4-3 leaving 10th in the 12-team table.
Deeney's appearance for the Wembley Rangers was his first time back on a football pitch since he was sacked as Forest Green Rovers manager in January 2024.
During his time in charge of League Two side, Deeney failed to win any of his six matches.
