Liverpool have “open talks” with their two main transfer targets, according to a fresh report.
The Reds have endured a torrid season. They currently sit ninth in the table, seven points from the Champions League spots and some 21 points adrift of table toppers Arsenal.
Liverpool have had problems in midfield in particular, with the likes of Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson having endured injuries and poor form throughout he campaign.

Meanwhile, fringe players Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain and Naby Keita are both due to leave in the summer upon the expiry of their contracts.
In turn, the Reds have been linked to some of the most sought after midfielders in world football, including Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, Benfica’s Enzo Fernandez and Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat.
Liverpool open talks with Bellingham and Fernandez
In an interview with Foot Mercato’s Anas Bakhkhar, Empire of the Kop revealed that Liverpool had held talks with Amrabat only for his camp to “abandon” talks.

However an overlooked detail of Bakhkhar interview was the journalist appeared to announce that Bellingham and Fernandez had opened talks with the Merseyside club.
The reporter said: “Just to remind everyone, there was a positive meeting during the World Cup between Amrabat’s entourage and Liverpool but unfortunately, his agent thought that Liverpool were linked with a lot of midfielders during this transfer window – like Jude Bellingham and Enzo Fernandez and Liverpool were having discussions with Borussia Dortmund and Benfica.
“So, it was difficult for Amrabat’s agent to see if he would be an undeniable starter under Jurgen Klopp, it was very difficult situation and they decided to abandon negotiations with Liverpool”.
Bellingham is reportedly Liverpool’s No.1 transfer target for the summer.

However the England man is one of the most desirable players in world football, linked with Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Premier League trio Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Fernandez was voted the World Cup’s Young Player of the Tournament, and has been linked with Chelsea throughout the January window.
However, Benfica are thought to be holding out for over £100million for the Argentine, who only signed for the Portugal giants last summer.
