Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has officially spoken about reports linking him with Liverpool for the first time.
Back in January, it was confirmed that Jurgen Klopp will be leaving the club at the end of the 23/24 season.
The Anfield club have since been linked with the likes of Xabi Alonso, Roberto De Zerbi, Ruben Amorim, Thomas Tuchel and Thomas Frank over their soon to be vacant managerial role.
This week, it emerged that 45-year-old Slot has become the leading candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager in the summer.

Speaking ahead of Feyenoord’s match against Go Ahead Eagles, Slot confirmed he wants to join Liverpool.
As reported by Sky Sports, the 45-year-old said: “The clubs are negotiating, I am awaiting the outcome. It is no secret I want to go to Liverpool. Now I am waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement, I am confident that will happen.”
The Dutchman remained tight lipped on Thursday morning when he was appraoched by Sky Sports reporter Gary Cotterill.

Cotterill said: “You’re in the news.” Slot replied: “I am.”
The Sky Sports reporter then added: “You said you wanted to go to the Premier League, is there a possibility?”
The Dutchman replied: “I can’t deny that.”
Cotterill then continued: “Liverpool want you,” to which Slot simply said: “But tonight we play Go Ahead Eagles.”

After Liverpool’s dismal 2-0 defeat against Everton on Wednesday night, captain Virgil van Dijk became the first player to speak about Slot.
He said: “I think Slot is one of the better Dutch coaches at the moment.
“With the way he plays and the philosophy he has, he can be a Liverpool coach. But I read and hear that it is far from complete. We shall see. We will focus on that next season, but that is still a long way off.”
