Man Utd player who Erik ten Hag 'ignored' wants to leave and could prompt January transfer window rethink

Man Utd player who Erik ten Hag 'ignored' wants to leave and could prompt January transfer window rethink

Manchester United could see one of their players leave in the January transfer window according to new reports.

A Manchester United star who Erik ten Hag is said to have "ignored" could be set for a transfer in January, according to reports.

The January window is just around the corner and offers clubs the chance to strengthen their squad in the middle of the season. Although they've just changed manager and brought in Ruben Amorim, United are not expected to do any significant business in the window.

However, there are reports claiming that one player could well be on his way out. As per the Daily Mail, United are assessing the current goalkeeping situation and may well move for a new addition in the event that second choice shotstopper Altay Bayindir leaves.

Bayindir signed from Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023, with United paying £4.3 million for his services. However, the Turkey international has been a permanent understudy to Andre Onana, playing just three times in all competitions.

After playing over 100 times for his previous club, he is believed to be want first-team football and was linked with a switch to Celtic in the summer prior to them moving for Kasper Schmeichel.

United's preference would be for Bayindir to remain with the club until the summer but would look to find a solution if he was to leave in January.

The experienced Tom Heaton is currently third choice but will be 39 next years, meaning the club are looking at a much younger option for the position. 24-year-old Sunderland 'keeper Anthony Patterson is one goalkeeper who they are keeping tabs on.

Bayindir made a single appearance in an FA Cup win over Newport County last season and has played twice in the Carabao Cup this term.

When he arrived at United, it's said that Bayindir was not greeted by Ten Hag straight from the off. According to Football Insider, the two did not even engage in a conversation for the first two weeks following on from Bayindir signing for United.

Instead, he only spent time working with the club's goalkeeping coaches.

United return to action on Wednesday night when they travel to Arsenal in a huge clash at the Emirates Stadium.
