Man Utd fans think Ruben Amorim aimed brutal dig at Arsenal during pre-match press conference

Man Utd fans think Ruben Amorim aimed brutal dig at Arsenal during pre-match press conference

The United boss made big claim ahead of the Premier League match.

Manchester United fans are convinced that Ruben Amorim has taken a shot at Premier League rivals Arsenal in a press conference.

On Wednesday night, Amorim faces his toughest test since becoming United manager as his side travels to the Emirates stadium for a Premier League clash against Arsenal.

The Portuguese manager appears to have steadied the ship at United, taking them to two wins and one draw in his first three games in charge.

And ahead of the match on Wednesday, Amorim spoke to the media, and fans are convinced that he aimed a subtle dig at the opponents.

During the pre-match press conference, the United boss was asked about Arteta being given time to build his side into title contenders at Arsenal.

"United is a little different. All the attention from you guys [media], so it's impossible to have all that time," replied Amorim

"We'll try to do things faster knowing that here it's MASSIVE attention and judgment every day."

Reacting to the comments online, fans are convinced that Amorim was implying that United are a bigger club than the London side, and that is why Arteta has been kept in his job despite failing to win a trophy since winning the 2019/20 FA Cup.

Commenting on a clip, one fan wrote: "Indirectly said Arsenal is a small club and no one cares about them."

Another agreed, adding: "Man also know that Arsenal is some small club where there’s no pressure."

While one praised Amorim's response, writing: "Love how he responded to that question. Manchester United are the biggest club in the land, so expectations are much higher than that of small clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea."

Wednesday's match will be the first of two meetings between Arsenal and Manchester United after the two clubs were drawn to face each other at the Emirates in the third round of the FA Cup in January.

A win for United could bring them within touching distance of the top four despite their dreadful start to the season under former manager Erik ten Hag.

Meanwhile the Gunners could put pressure on league leaders Liverpool who face off against Newcastle United at St James' Park.
