Piers Morgan brutally mocks Man Utd for keeping Erik ten Hag after previous Cristiano Ronaldo claim

Piers Morgan has weighed on Manchester United's decision to keep Erik ten Hag as manager.

Piers Morgan has brutally mocked Manchester United after they elected to keep Erik ten Hag on as manager.

The Dutchman's future at United looked to be bleak after the club finished in eighth place in the Premier League and were eliminated from the Champions League at the group stage.

However, a surprise FA Cup final win over gave United's top brass food thought and a detailed two-week end of season review took place.

United reportedly held discussions with potential candidates to replace Ten Hag but ultimately opted to stick with the 54-year-old after productive talks on Tuesday.

There is even talk that the two parties will now enter negotiations over a new contract as they look to tie Ten Hag down beyond 2025.

But Arsenal fan Morgan, a frequent critic of Ten Hag's was delighted with United's decision.

He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to write: "Brilliant!" with multiple laughing and clapping emojis.

Morgan infamously conducted the tell-all interview which led to Cristiano Ronaldo leaving for a second time following a fall-out with Ten Hag.

He has regularly aimed digs at the former Ajax coach. Following a shock Champions League defeat to Copenhagen, Morgan trolled Ten Hag when he wrote, '"I don't need Ronaldo'." - alongside a picture of the United manager.

A loss to Newcastle led to another post from the TalkTV host, who wrote: "REMINDER: Everything ⁦@Cristiano told me a year ago about Manchester United and Erik Ten Hag has been proven correct."

He slammed Ten Hag over his decision to ban media outlets from his press conference in December - and had four more digs at him on social media when they lost to West Ham later that month.

Ten Hag will be given a chance to show his managerial qualities under a new structure, though it appears as though he will take a backseat when it comes to recruitment.

Instead he will focus on the coaching and style of play.
