Ten Hag's future was in doubt after a dismal Premier League campaign saw United finish eighth and lose 14 games.
However, a surprise win over rivals City in the FA Cup final at Wembley - Ten Hag's second trophy with United - appears to have swayed the club's decision.
On Tuesday night it was reported by The Athletic that, following talks to conclude a two-week process, Ten Hag will continue as manager under a new structure put in place.

The two parties are now set to enter negotiations over a new deal, with Ten Hag's contract due to expire at the end of the 2024/25 campaign - although there is the option to extend for another year.
According to United journalist Peter Hall, the club feel as though they are on the same page.
But there will be one major change going forward which Ten Hag will have to get used to.

Ten Hag's transfer dealings have come under scrutiny since he took the reins at Old Trafford, with many critical of the power his agency SEG were allowed.
Many new arrivals had worked with Ten Hag previously or had links to the Eredivisie in some way.
But United's top brass, with technical director Jason Wilcox and expected sporting director Dan Ashworth, will lead the way in terms of signings.

The club have also appointed former City employee Omar Berrada as their new CEO and he will take up the position next month.
