The way Erik ten Hag reacted to being told his time at Manchester United was over has reportedly been revealed.
Less than 24 hours after their 2-1 defeat by West Ham United in the Premier League, the Old Trafford club confirmed their decision to remove Ten Hag as the first-team manager.
A statement read: “Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager. Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

“We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.”
As reported by the Daily Mail’s Mike Keegan, a meeting took place at the club’s training ground between Ten Hag, CEO Omar Berrada and Sporting Director Dan Ashworth.
The meeting was described as ‘respectful and dignified’.

Keegan wrote on social media: “A bit more info: I’m told Erik ten Hag was summoned to a meeting at Carrington with Omar Berrada and Dan Ashworth this morning where he was informed that it was over.
“That meeting has been described to me as ‘respectful and dignified’. His conduct off the field remained decent to the end.”
In total, Ten Hag managed 128 matches as United boss with a record of 72 wins, 20 draws and 36 defeats.

During his time in charge, the Red Devils won the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup and the Dutchman leaves Old Trafford with an overall win percentage of 56.3%.
Reacting to Ten Hag’s sacking, ex-defender Gary Neville said: “I suspect the Tottenham game was probably a catalyst for them to start thinking about a new manager.
“You look at who is available then you try to think of the timing. You are half hoping the manager can turn it around but 99 times out of 100, the tide is against you and continues to do so.”
