Man Utd fans worried after spotting what Ruben Amorim was doing on touchline throughout Fulham FA Cup defeat

Amorim's side lost on penalties to Fulham in the FA Cup fifth round.

Manchester United fans have expressed their concern after spotting what manager Ruben Amorim was doing on the touchline during his side's FA Cup fifth round defeat to Fulham.

United were dumped out of the FA Cup on penalties after Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno saved Victor Lindelof and Joshua Zirkzee's spot kicks.

The match, which ended 1-1 after extra time, was mostly devoid of any real quality throughout the 120 minutes and both sides were unable to avoid a shootout.

Bruno Fernandes produced one of the game's brightest moments with a well-taken left-footed finish from 15 yards to level the scores, but it was another disappointing day at Old Trafford for Amorim and his side.

One fan spotted Amorim appearing animated on the touchline throughout the encounter - claiming that he was 'guiding' Rasmus Hojlund through the game.

The Danish striker now hasn't scored for United in his last 18 appearances and was substituted on 68 minutes on Sunday.

The 22-year-old's recent performances have concerned fans, and Amorim's coaching of the striker during the match certainly divided opinion - with many questioning why the striker would need such a high level of guidance.

United fans were, though, impressed by the performance of 17-year-old Chido Obi, who replaced Hojlund to make just his third senior appearance and looked lively in the closing stages as his side looked for a winner.

When asked post-match about whether Obi could replace Hojlund in the starting XI going forward, Amorim told reporters: "Anything can happen in the next games.

"During training, we don't have a lot of time to train, but we need to see the opposition, feel the moment of the player physically, in this moment, with a lot of games.

"We are going to start playing Thursday/Sunday - anything can happen. But I will focus on just the next game, try and in that way, like I'm going to change the striker. No, I will choose the best players to win the next match."
