Jamie Carragher made a risky joke about Roy Keane following Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Manchester City on Sunday – and it didn’t go down too well.
Carragher, 46, was accompanied by Keane, 53, during Sky Sports’ coverage of the crunch match at Anfield with Daniel Sturridge and Micah Richards also part of the live broadcast team.
As the former pros dissected the game, as expected, one of the talking points was Mo Salah’s contractual situation, with the Egyptian’s current deal set to expire in the summer of 2025.

Of course, after Liverpool’s 3-2 win against Southampton on November 24, Salah discussed the situation with reporters outside of St Mary’s, admitting he was “more out than in”.
The next day, Carragher was part of Sky Sports’ coverage for the MNF fixture between Newcastle and West Ham.
The former Liverpool defender discussed Salah’s current situation and even branded him as ‘selfish’, stressing how he was ‘disappointed’ at the timing of the Liverpool man’s comments ahead of a week that featured games against Real Madrid and Man City.

The back and forth continued after Liverpool’s win against City on Sunday, while Virgil van Dijk handed Salah the Player of the Match award in his post-match interview.
“I’m surprised that Carra didn’t give it to you,” said the Dutchman on Sky Sports.
“He wouldn't...never, he [Jamie Carragher] wouldn’t give it to me,” Salah replied.

The broadcast then cut to the studio at Anfield, allowing Carragher to respond.
After doubling down on his previous comments, the 46-year-old insisted he had “no problem with Salah and Van Dijk”.
But Carragher could not help but crack a joke, saying: “I’ll see him [Mo Salah] in the car park.”
Of course, this was a reference to Keane’s heated exchange with an Ipswich fan after Manchester United’s 1-1 draw against the Tractor Boys on November 24.

After a fan hurled abuse at Keane – a former Ipswich manager – the Irishman walked over to confront him before saying: “I’ll wait for you in the car park, and we can discuss it!" as he was led away by security.
But on Sunday, the former United captain allowed himself a raised smile despite being the butt of Carragher’s joke.
