Richard Keys calls out Anfield's atmosphere during Arne Slot's first home Liverpool game and makes huge claim

Richard Keys calls out Anfield's atmosphere during Arne Slot's first home Liverpool game and makes huge claim

Richard Keys questioned one aspect of Arne Slot's first competitive game at Anfield.

Richard Keys called out Anfield's atmosphere for Arne Slot's first home Liverpool game in the Premier League and questioned his style of play following their victory over Brentford.

Liverpool made it two wins from as many games since the start of the new league season as Slot took charge of his first competitive game at Anfield.

His team comfortably beat Brentford 2-0 on Sunday, with Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah getting on the score-sheet.

Despite the new era under Slot, Anfield was relatively quiet.

And Keys called out the atmosphere inside the stadium and questioned whether Liverpool fans will be entertained by the Dutch boss' style of play.

Speaking on beIN SPORTS, he exclaimed: "That was eerily quiet."

The former Sky Sports host added: "If they start running in the mud... a little, I think that crowd would start to get a little bit uneasy.

"They go out to be entertained and the brand of football he's likely to serve up... too much passing and no intensity."

Slot has registered back-to-back league wins since replacing Jurgen Klopp, with his side yet to concede a goal.

On the reception he received from the Liverpool faithful, the 45-year-old said: "The reception of the fans was similar to the reception I got from all the people in and around the AXA [Training Centre] and the people who are working for Liverpool.

"So, I think I cannot speak for all of the managers, but I think maybe all of them would tell you the same: every manager that comes in here feels the warmth of this club, feels the appreciation of the fans, and the most important thing we have to do as managers is to make sure the team plays in a style that the fans like to see.

"That’s what we are trying, and I think the boys showed that, and the fans showed their appreciation for that, I think."
