The Undertaker deliberated for over 30 seconds before naming who he believed was the most underrated wrestler of the past 30 years.
Mark Calaway, who was known by his ring alias ‘The Undertaker’, is widely regarded to be among the greatest professional wrestlers in history.
Having spent the vast majority of his career in the WWE, making his debut in 1990, the Undertaker was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2022.

So naturally, when asked by Chris Van Vliet to name the most underrated wrestler across his 30 year career, it took the Undertaker some time to find an answer.
“Man, that’s a tough question,” The Undertaker admitted, before pensively deliberating for some time. “I’m having to go through a 30-year rolodex here…”
Ultimately, however, the Undertaker named John Layfield (JBL), who rose to prominence during the Attitude Era, as the most underrated wrestler he had encountered.

The Undertaker said: “Because he had his big run late, I don’t think people really realise how good JBL was.
“He came in as a cowboy, and he was in the Acolytes, then the APA and it was not until he became JBL that he got to showcase his true ability, not only as a [someone] able to cut promos, but also his work as a heel, and a big heel.
“He was a big dude, but he was a chicken-s*** heel, and that’s sometimes tough to do.

“He was a lot of fun to work with. I worked with him hundreds of times in dark matches after TV tapings and it was always a constant [process] of trying to get me to crack. He was good.”
When the Undertaker was asked if JBL had ever managed to make him crack, he admitted: “He got me close [to cracking] once but he didn’t do it.
“Once that hat comes on he just becomes this smug, rich, millionaire cowboy that thinks he can fight, but can’t and will shortcut every angle he can. That was perfect for him.”
