Hollywood star reveals details of 'mysterious' contract Joe Rogan makes all of his podcast guests sign to appear on show

The contract is signed by guests before they appear on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

A Hollywood star has revealed details of a contract that Joe Rogan makes all of his guests sign before they can appear on his podcast.

Rogan's podcast, 'The Joe Rogan Experience', is one of the most popular podcasts in the world and has ran for over 15 years.

The UFC commentator signed a 10-year deal with Spotify worth a reported £250 million last year, and over 2,200 episodes of the podcast have been recorded.

High-profile guests have included Mike Tyson, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and current US President Donald Trump.

But even those guests have had to sign a special contract before appearing on the air, a Hollywood star has claimed.

Actor and narrator Russell Crowe, who appeared on the podcast in August 2024, detailed his experiences of Rogan's show in an interview with a New Zealand radio station.

Speaking on Nova 96.9's 'Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie', Crowe revealed how he had a private text exchange with the UFC commentator in the days leading up to the podcast that ultimately led to a contract being signed once he arrived at the venue.

The Gladiator star explained: "He goes, 'We'll chat for about three hours'.

"And I'm like, 'Three hours? No you won't'. That's kind of ridiculous. And then you get in there, and that what he fully intends.

"But once you're there, you have to sign a thing that you're not going to leave until the chat is over."

With Rogan's podcast being hard-hitting and straight-to-the-point, the reported contract would guard against a guest deciding to walk out early if there are any fierce disagreements.

The rule is enforced to such lengths that the UFC commentator once decided not to broadcast an episode at all after he raised concerns about its content.

That's according to architectural designer Randall Carlson, who claimed that Rogan filmed an episode featuring himself and controversial inventor Malcolm Bendall.

The main point of discussion surrounded Bendall's alleged creation of a controversial plasma technology system.

But speaking on the Shawn Ryan Show in April 2024, Carlson explained: "Myself and Malcolm sat down, and Jamie [Vernon, producer] had found this stuff from the early 90's and early 2000's online where it goes back to this controversy, where they were trying to get the license away from Malcolm.

"Joe was looking at paperwork before we came in, and he knows nothing about this except what he's seeing is trying to portray Malcolm as a religious nut.

"So we went on the show ... they [Rogan and Bendall] were going at each other.

"When it was over, Joe calls me aside. And I'm already thinking about the ramifications. But he said, 'Hey, is it ok with you if I sat on this for a while, while I figure it out?'

"And I said, 'Yeah, have it as long as you want' ... so it has never aired."
