Man Utd's 'asking price' for Alejandro Garnacho revealed as fans make transfer demand after Chelsea draw

Man Utd's 'asking price' for Alejandro Garnacho revealed as fans make transfer demand after Chelsea draw

Some United fans were critical of Garnacho's performance versus Chelsea.

Manchester United's asking price for Alejandro Garnacho has been revealed after fan criticism during his side's 1-1 draw against Chelsea.

Garnacho moved to Manchester from Atletico Madrid at the age of 16 in 2020, notably becoming one of the last players to move to England from the EU before new Brexit regulations on young overseas players came into place.

He signed his first professional contract the following year and has spent the last two-and-a-half years as part of the first team squad after being promoted by Erik ten Hag.

Last season saw him record personal best returns, with his seven Premier League goals including a stunning bicycle kick away at Everton in November.

This term has been more challenging for the 20-year-old, and he was criticised by fans for his performance in United's 1-1 draw at home to Chelsea on Sunday.

The criticism was so fierce that a very small minority of fans even called for the club to consider selling the winger - despite being one of United's brightest and generally best-performing young players.

If United did decide to sell on the forward, however, The Sun claimed last month that they would be under no pressure to do so given that Garnacho signed a new five-year contract last April.

It is reported that the Red Devils would be willing to sell him for £50 million amid reported interest from Barcelona and Juventus last summer. However, incoming new manager Ruben Amorim may value him higher.

Amorim will officially become United boss from November 11, with interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy having taken charge of the draw against Chelsea and Wednesday's 5-2 win over Leicester in the Carabao Cup.

The Dutchman will oversee Thursday's Europa League clash against PAOK and another home Premier League clash against Leicester before officially handing the reins over to Amorim, who will be in the dugout for the first time for United's away trip to Portman Road to take on Ipswich on November 24.
