Offers for the Premier League club are expected to be made from around the world, including a bid from Chemicals firm Ineos boss Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who went public with his intentions to buy United in order to put the club back under British ownership.
A source via Sky News described Ratcliffe's bid as a "British bid to make the club a beacon for a modern, progressive, fan-centred approach to ownership."
Although an exact figure has not been reported, it was suggested that the bid from Qatar is expected to be 'a minimum' £4 billion.
