In a recent survey conducted by Sky Bet, Premier League fans have voted Arsenal as the biggest club in London.
The Sky Bet Hope Survey was handed out to fans of all 20 Premier League teams across England to see how they saw the new 2023/24 season panning out. Fans also gave their thoughts on the other Premier League teams including ownership, players and supporters.
Fans of all 20 Premier League clubs were asked who they thought were the biggest team in London with over half (57 percent) agreeing that Arsenal were the biggest club in the capital. This means that not only is North London red, but so is the whole area.
With their numerous FA Cup wins and an invincible team that will forever be etched in history, Premier League fans feel these triumphs alongside their vast fan base is enough to earn the Gunners the title.
82 percent of Arsenal fans claimed that their team was the biggest in London with 13 percent of them arguing that it was Chelsea. In comparison, three quarters (75 percent) of Blues fans surveyed said they were the top dogs in London with a fifth (20 percent) admitting it was the club at the Emirates.
There were only three sets of fans where the majority were against this notion, unsurprisingly these were supporters of fellow London sides Chelsea, Tottenham and West Ham. Although, quite surprisingly, of the West Ham fans surveyed, 44% said that the East London side were the biggest in London whilst another 44% of fans succumbed to the fact it was Arsenal.
Despite being the only team in the capital to have lifted the Champions League recently, Chelsea only came second. With their takeover in 2003, Chelsea’s success on the pitch has been clear to see with domestic and European trophies. However it seems they’ve still got a way to go if they want to challenge Arsenal again as being the biggest club. In 2021, Chelsea were voted as the biggest club in London with 59% and Arsenal only received 28% of the votes.
Unlike last season, Tottenham find themselves in the top four, being voted as the third biggest with West Ham finishing in fourth which suggests that they’re not as massive as they claim to be.
Thousands of fans across the country have given their opinion about the new Premier League season including who they think will win the league and what stadium has the best atmosphere. You can read the full Sky Bet Hope Survey here.
