Manchester United may bid for Bayern Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong, but face stiff competition from Chelsea, according to reports.
Frimpong has impressed in the Bundesliga this season in a variety of roles on the right, and his performances have earned him a call-up to the preliminary Netherlands squad for the World Cup.
The 21-year-old, who progressed through the youth ranks at Manchester City before making a move to Celtic in 2019, is beginning to attract interest from some of Europe’s top clubs.

Indeed, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claimed earlier this week that Man Utd had sent their scouts to Germany to watch Frimpong.
Meanwhile Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenburg also reported that the Red Devils sent scouts to Germany to watch Leverkusen's 2-2 draw with Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, in which Frimpong netted a late equaliser.

Plettenburg added that ten Hag wanted to sign a "high-quality right-back" this winter.
Man Utd may now be tempted to make a move for the player in January, to wade off interest from Chelsea, according to FootballTransfers.
Chelsea will offer Man Utd stiff competition for Frimpong’s signature, given the Netherlands under-21 international previously admitted he grew up a fan of the Blues.
When asked by SportBILD to name the club he supported, Frimpong said: “I was actually always Chelsea FC.

“As a kid, I used to watch Chelsea games with my uncle, mostly because of Didier Drogba.”
This season ten Hag has favoured Diogo Dalot at right-back over Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with the latter having been strongly linked with a move back to his old club Crystal Palace over the summer.
While Dalot is currently in the best form of his Man Utd career, more competition at right back appears to be a priority for ten Hag.
