A European club has reached out to Kevin De Bruyne following his announcement that he will leave Manchester City at the end of the 2024/25 season.
De Bruyne, 33, is out of contract at the end of the season and confirmed that he will leave Manchester City at the end of the current campaign.
The Belgium international, who has won 16 trophies since joining City from Wolfsburg in 2015, including six Premier League titles and a Champions League, posted a statement on social media on Friday afternoon (August 4).
“Seeing this, you probably realise where this is heading,” read De Bruyne’s statement.

“So I’ll get straight to it and let you all know that these will be my final months as a Manchester City player.
“Nothing about this is easy to write, but as football players, we all know this day eventually comes. That day is here – and you deserve to hear it from me first.
“Football led me to all of you – and to this city. Chasing my dream, not knowing this period would change my life. This City. This club. These people... gave me EVERYTHING. I had no choice but to give EVERYTHING back! And guess what – we won everything.”

So, what next for the 33-year-old?
Well, unsurprisingly he has been tipped to join any Major League Soccer team or Saudi Arabian club but another team may be in contention to sign him upon the expiration of his contract.
His former club Wolfsburg quote tweeted the Belgian’s statement, and wrote: “Dear Kevin, do you remember? You and I ten years ago? How about the two of us again?”
Of course, this presumably was a tough-in-cheek offer but De Bruyne will no doubt credit the Bundesliga side with allowing him the opportunity to rekindle his career when he joined them in 2014 after an unsuccessful spell at Chelsea between 2012 and 2014.

Speaking about when he left Chelsea to the Players' Tribune in 2019, De Bruyne said: "I was completely honest. I said, 'I feel like the club doesn’t really want me here. I want to play football. I’d rather you sell me'.
"I think José [Mourinho] was a bit disappointed, but to be fair to him, I think he also understood that I absolutely needed to play. So the club ended up selling me, and there was no big problem at all. Chelsea got more than double the price they paid for me, and I got into a much better situation at Wolfsburg.
"Everything changed then."
The Belgium international made 73 appearances for the German side between 2014 and 2015, a period in which he scored 20 goals and produced 37 assists before he made a return to the Premier League.
