Liverpool defender Anderson Arroyo has signed a new contract at the club before completing a loan move to Spanish side Alaves.
Arroyo joined the Reds in January 2018 from Columbian side Fortaleza CEIF but is yet to make an appearance for the first team. The 22-year-old has completed various loan spells across Europe, including last season when he made 42 appearances at Spanish second division side CD Mirandes.
He’s also enjoyed spells at Real Mallorca, KAA Gent, FK Mlada Boleslav and Salamanca CF as he works towards a work permit.

He’ll continue his development in the Segunda Division in the upcoming 2021/22 campaign with Alaves.
Arroyo joined the Merseyside club as a hot prospect at the age of 18 and has hopes of one day following in the footsteps of compatriot Luis Diaz by playing for the Liverpool first team.
Diaz signed for Jurgen Klopp’s side in January of this year from Portugues side Porto and excelled in the run-in as the Premier League runners-up reached the Champions League final.
Arroyo said in an interview with Liverpool.com in February: “Liverpool have always been attentive to me while out on loan.

“I want to establish myself in European football and hopefully one day stay at Liverpool.”
The Columbian’s new deal and subsequent loan adds to a long list of business conducted by Klopp already this summer.
The Anfield based side got off to a flying start in the window, bringing in Fabio Carvalho, Darwin Nunez and Calvin Ramsay within the first three weeks of June.
Attention then turned to outgoings, with the likes of Sadio Mane, Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi all leaving the club.

Now, loaning out youth players and tying down existing squad members to new contracts appears to be the priority as Liverpool prepare for the new season.
Mohamed Salah and Joe Gomez have already penned new deals, with Naby Keita expected to follow suit in the coming weeks.
