Former Leeds player Noel Whelan has debated whether Liverpool want or need to make further signings this transfer window.
The Reds have brought in Darwin Núñez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay already this summer.
Whelan believes that after such an amount was spent on Núñez, it would be needless for Liverpool to add another body for the sake of it.

“They’ve gone out and spent quite a lot of money this summer,” the former Leeds United man told Football Insider.
“Carvalho has come in, and they’ve spent a staggering amount on Núñez as well – which is their answer to the Erling Haaland deal.
“The question is – do they need any defensive midfielders? They’ve got James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, as well as other players who can make an impact.
“Do they need to force a transfer through for the sake of it?”

Liverpool have been long-term admirers of Jude Bellingham and will look to conclude that deal if possible - but with Erling Haaland joining Manchester City it would always be unlikely that Borussia Dortmund would let him go.
Aurelien Tchouameni was also a target, but he was snapped up almost inevitably by Real Madrid after Kylian Mbappe’s signature became unobtainable.
Liverpool also do have plenty of options in that area inhouse, with the aforementioned Fabinho, Milner and Henderson all able to play in that role, alongside Naby Keita, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Thiago, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Tyler Morton amongst others.
It would be fair to say that next summer, when Milner, Chamberlain and Keita all run out of contract, the Reds do need to invest in a midfielder.

Other positions that Jürgen Klopp’s side may need to look at are a deputy to Mohamed Salah on the right hand side, and potentially a new goalkeeper to fill Adrian’s void.
