Liverpool are known to hold a long-term interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, and there has been a significant development in their pursuit of the player.
Despite reports suggesting Liverpool were prepared to wait until next summer to sign the Englishman, fresh rumours suggest they want to sign the 19-year-old this transfer window.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Reds made an enquiry over whether Bellingham was available for transfer a few weeks ago.

Liverpool though were dealt a blow in their pursuit of the youngster with Dortmund insisting he is untouchable in the short term.
As such, Liverpool’s desire to acquire the player’s services will be tested.
Will they wait for Bellingham? Or will they look to sign someone else this summer?
The England international didn’t actually sit at the top of Liverpool’s list of priority midfield signings at the beginning of the summer transfer window.

Instead, the Reds were eyeing up Aurelien Tchouameni. He was viewed as a perfect solution to Jürgen Klopp’s engine room concerns.
Liverpool attempted to bring the player to Merseyside, but Real Madrid swooped in, and the Reds missed out on their man.
As such, Bellingham has been viewed as the best alternative to Tchouameni on the market.
He has gone strength to strength in Germany since switching the blue of Birmingham City to the Black and Yellow of Borussia Dortmund two years ago

And he’d be well suited to the box-to-box midfield role to the right of Fabinho within Jürgen Klopp’s midfield three. More than well suited, he’d take Liverpool up a level.
But it’s not like the Reds don’t have other options in that area of the pitch for the time being, so one suspects they’ll be willing to wait.
In that role, Klopp can already pick from the likes of Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Those 5 players boast enough quality between them to carry Liverpool through one more season before they can sign a true star to make that position their own.

Even next summer Bellingham won’t come on the cheap, but he’ll be worth the wait for Reds fans.
