Liverpool could be set to finally make a signing after Fabrizio Romano claimed a deal is "on" for a new addition.
Fans of the Merseyside club have been left frustrated after failing to bring in any players this summer and being the only team in the Premier League yet to do so.
They were pushing to sign Real Sociedad and Spain midfielder Martin Zubimendi, who has a £51 million release clause.

Yet when a deal looked like it was nearing completion, Zubimendi elected to stay with his boyhood club even after giving his word to Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes.
Although they look light in that area of the pitch, Liverpool are not expected to have any alternatives in the defensive midfield position.
However, Romano says they are moving towards an incoming.

After stating Liverpool were looking at bringing in Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili for €30 million, he now says "deal on" regarding the switch.
In another update, Nacho Sanchis of Relevo says Liverpool have offered €35 million for Mamardashvili and Valencia owner Peter Lim is now deciding whether to accept.
With Alisson Becker still firmly No.1, the Georgia international would not be joining Liverpool immediately and it's claimed he would instead sign on loan for fellow Premier League side Bournemouth.

The 23-year-old is in favour of the move and sees it as "an opportunity of a lifetime".
But a conflicting report from El Chiringuito claims Liverpool have failed with an opening bid for the former Dinamo Tbilisi shotstopper as Valencia want a higher fee.
Mamardashvili signed for Valencia permanently in 2021 and has gone on to become their regular choice in between the sticks.
He has only missed one game in La Liga in two seasons and further enhanced his reputation with a number of impressive displays for Georgia at the Euros in the summer.
