As things stand, Erik ten Hag has the edge over Jurgen Klopp, occupying fourth place in the Premier League table, with a slender one-point advantage over fifth-placed Liverpool.
However, that could all change should Lampard lead Chelsea to victory at Old Trafford later this month.
While the Blues also face third-placed Newcastle before the season is up, with Liverpool still able to catch the Magpies who are four points in front.
Therefore, Liverpool's hopes of landing Mac Allister this summer could rest on Lampard, with Reds supporters relying on the former England international and bitter rival to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
