Liverpool are set to hand Alexis Mac Allister his dream shirt number should the midfielder sign from Brighton and Hove Albion.
After an underwhelming campaign Liverpool are tipped to respond with a major squad rejuvenation this summer, with the midfield, in particular, needing to be addressed.
While the Reds pulled out of a deal for the Real Madrid-bound Jude Bellingham, Jurgen Klopp’s men have been linked to a slew of alternatives in recent weeks.

The likes of Manuel Ugarte, Mason Mount, Ryan Gravenberch, Conor Gallagher, Nicolo Barella and Moises Caicedo have all recently been connected with an Anfield move.
Meanwhile, it was claimed last week that Caicedo’s Brighton teammate, Mac Allister, had entered preliminary talks with Liverpool and that the Argentina international’s future would be resolved early in the summer window.
And one sentimental factor that could encourage the Seagulls star to make the move to Anfield is that his preferred shirt number will be made available at Liverpool in the summer.

Liverpool are yet to have reassigned the number 10 shirt after Sadio Mane’s departure last summer.
Indeed, Mac Allister wears number 10 for Brighton and previously did so for Argentinos. And should the 24-year-old make the move to Liverpool he would likely want to continue donning his preferred number.
James Milner (7), Naby Keita (8) and Roberto Firmino (10) are also poised to vacate other 'first XI' options for would-be signings, given the expiry of their respective contracts.
Meanwhile, numbers 12, 16, 24, 25 and 30 are currently unassigned.

Having caught the eye with his Brighton performance - making 107 appearances over four years on the south coast - Mac Allister also helped Argentina claim their first World Cup since 1986 in December.
The achievement elevated the midfielder’s status, with the player having since also garnered interest from the likes of Manchester City and Newcastle United.
