Fabrizio Romano confirmed Liverpool have offered an “important contract” to one of their primary targets.
On Wednesday the Reds announced that James Milner, Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain would all be departing at the end of the season upon the expiry of their contracts.
They were all part of the side that won the Champions League in 2019 and Premier League the following season.

A statement from the club said: "All four players will depart with our gratitude and appreciation for the contribution they have made."
In anticipation of the departures, the Reds have been linked to a slew of midfielders. Jurgen Klopp is reportedly on the lookout for at least two big-name additions as he looks to get Liverpool back challenging at the Premier League summit.
And Romano has provided a positive update on the club’s pursuit of Alexis Mac Allister.
Mac Allister to Liverpool update
Romano claimed earlier this month Liverpool have presented their project and financial proposal to Mac Allister as they look to win the race for his signature.

And the transfer guru has provided an update on the Reds' pursuit of the Argentinian World Cup winner.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Romano said: “They have a chance for sure.
“They had conversations with Mac Allister. It was a concrete conversation, they offered an important contract.
“They discussed about the project so they presented their project to Mac Allister.”

According to the Mirror‘s John Richardson, Liverpool are the front-runner for Mac Allister in a deal worth £70million.
Should Liverpool pay such a price it would make the 24-year-old the club’s third-most expensive signing, behind only Darwin Nunez and Virgil Van Dijk.
