Lisandro Martinez has displayed elite mentality once again, turning down an invite to a friend's wedding in order to return to Manchester United.
The defender helped Argentina win a third World Cup in Qatar and was granted extra time off in order to enjoy the wild celebrations which followed in the country.
He got stuck into a serious FIFA 23 session with his teammates and was then back in Buenos Aires as he and his teammates paraded the World Cup trophy through the streets of the capital before the open-top bus tour was cancelled for safety reasons.
Although regular centre-back partner Raphael Varane returned to the United side against Nottingham Forest after playing for France in the final defeat, Martinez was absent.

That, coupled with a virus that struck Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire, meant Luke Shaw had to deputise as a centre-back in the 3-0 win.
United fans will be seeing Martinez back in a United shirt soon after seeing him return to first-team training 10 days after winning the World Cup.
The 24-year-old was on the guestlist for the wedding of La Albiceleste colleague and former Ajax teammate Nicolas Tagliafico, who tied the knot to fiancee Carolina Calvagni back in their native Argentina.

Tagliafico had the World Cup trophy involved in the ceremony and wore his winners' medal for the event, which came a year after a low-key civil service due to COVID-19
However, Simon Jones of the Daily Mail reported that Martinez was back in England earlier this week after electing against staying in his home country in order to get back to business with United.
The Red Devils' next clash comes against Wolves at Molineux on New Year's Eve and United supporters will be hoping their World Cup winner is in contention.

Erik ten Hag told his player to enjoy the scenes but did also issue a warning to Martinez, who he signed from former club Ajax in a £50 million summer deal.
Ten Hag said: "Lisandro Martinez has to accept that on the 27th the Premier League will go on."
