Steven Gerrard has been linked with a sensational return to English football with League 2 side Carlisle United following his departure from Al-Ettifaq.
The former Liverpool star left the Saudi Pro League side last week after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract following over a year in charge.
Al-Ettifaq sit 11th in the SPL, just eight points off the relegation zone.

Following his departure, Gerrard released a statement confirming his decision to step down from his role as manager.
"After careful consideration, the club and I have mutually agreed to part ways," Gerrard wrote on Instagram.
This was not an easy decision, but sometimes in football, things don't work out as planned. The Saudi Pro League is a tough and competitive league, and I have nothing but respect for the players and staff who give their all every day.

"I want to sincerely thank everyone at the club for their support and hard work. Football in Saudi Arabia is moving in the right direction, and I'll always appreciate my time here.
"Wishing the team and the fans nothing but success moving forward," he added.
Gerrard could be set for quick return to work in what would be one of the most shocking appointments in EFL history, with The Daily Mail reporting Carlisle United are considering an approach for the 44-year-old.

Carlisle sacked Mike Williamson on Monday with the side sitting bottom of League 2 with relegation to the National League looking a real possibility.
The approach for Gerrard comes from the club's ambitious American owners who took over in 2023, however, the report stresses the interest is a 'long shot'.
Carlisle are five points off safety, and had lost four of their last five games under Williamson.
The current bookies favourite to succeed Williamson ex-Bolton boss Ian Evatt, but sources suggest Gerrard would be the prefered choice in a bid to keep them in the EFL.
