Sergio Ramos look set to make his much anticipated return to football in a move that nobody saw coming.
More than 18 years after he left Sevilla to join Real Madrid at the age of 19, Ramos rejoined his boyhood club as a free agent in September 2023, following his two-year spell with Paris Saint-Germain.
However, the defender decided to leave again after just one season with the Spanish club, once again entering into a period of free agency to decide the next move of his career.

While many fans assumed that the Spain legend would retire following his second spell at Sevilla, it now appears that he has decided to make his return to the pitch.
After leaving Sevilla, Ramos was heavily linked with a move to either the Saudi Pro League or America's MLS to enjoy the final years of his career on a big wage.
But now, it has been reported that he will instead join a completely different league in a shock move that nobody could have seen coming.

According to Spanish outlet El Chiringuito TV, the 38-year-old is set to join Mexican club Rayados de Monterrey in a shock move to the Liga MX
The deal is reportedly in the final stages, with only a few details yet to be decided upon before the move can be confirmed.
As part of his contract, Ramos has reportedly asked to wear the number 93, seemingly to pay tribute to his injury-time equaliser in the 2014 Champions League final between Real Madrid and local rivals Atletico.

In a recent press conference, Monterrey’s head coach, Martin Demichelis reportedly addressed the rumours, admitting that he would love to see Ramos join the club.
“It would be an honour for everyone—for Liga MX, for Monterrey—so hopefully, it can happen,” he said in the press conference, via bein Sports.
But, Monterrey are reportedly not the only club interested in signing Ramos, as Brazilian club Santos reportedly have offered the defender a one-year contract with a salary of €4 million in order to reunite him with former PSG teammate Neymar Jr.
However, as it strands the Mexican club's offer has taken priority and Monterrey remains the most likely destination for Ramos.
