Man Utd player was 'visibly happy' after learning club had chosen Ruben Amorim to replace Erik ten Hag

Man Utd player was 'visibly happy' after learning club had chosen Ruben Amorim to replace Erik ten Hag

Ruben Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag at Manchester United back in November.

It has been reported that one Manchester United player was visibly happy after the club decided to replace Erik ten Hag with Ruben Amorim.

After winning the FA Cup last season, Dutchman Ten Hag was given another chance to stake his claim as the right man to lead United forward.

During the summer transfer window, the likes of Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Manuel Ugarte were added to the squad.

The expectation was that Ten Hag would build on the FA Cup success and guide United back towards the top of the Premier League.

However, it was another dreadful start to the campaign and with United rooted to the bottom half of the table, Ten Hag was sacked.

United then chose Amorim as Ten Hag's replacement, after the Portuguese's impressive record at Sporting Clube de Portugal.

Since Amorim took charge, United have recorded an impressive victory over Manchester City and held Liverpool to a 2-2 draw. But lost to the likes of Bournemouth, Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It is expected that Amorim will improve results step by step with fans fully on board with the long-term project.

Manchester United star left 'visibly happy' with Ruben Amorim as Erik ten Hag's replacement

According to reports, one United star was delighted after finding out Amorim was due to take over.

As reported by Manchester Evening News, midfielder Ugarte was 'visibly happy when United quickly closed in on a deal for Amorim on the same day they sacked Ten Hag'.

In addition, it has been suggested that the Uruguayan became a 'sounding board for intrigued teammates' ahead of the 39-year-old's arrival.

Speaking after getting a positive result against Premier League leaders Liverpool, Amorim said: "It was a good game. I'm happy for the performance, but I'm not happy for the result. But I'm really, really mad because of the other games.

"I think we should get mad and disappointed - more than the other day against Newcastle, Bournemouth and Nottingham [Forest]. Today we need to be really disappointed."

He added: "Today everyone is going to say the lads did everything right and I'm allowed to be upset today."

United return to action on Sunday when they play Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup.
