Ruben Amorim has already broken an unwanted record as Man United manager

The new United boss is already setting records at the club.

Ruben Amorim has broken another unwanted record at Manchester United after just ten games as manager of the Premier League club.

After initially appearing to put United's dreadful season back on track, Amorim has struggled in recent matches, losing the last three matches in a row.

United's latest defeat came on Boxing Day as an out-of-form Wolves side boosted their chances of Premier League survival with a 2-0 win over the Red Devils at the Molineux stadium.

And with United taking yet another loss, new manager Amorim has officially set a new record at the club, and he's not going to be happy about it.

After losing 2-0 to Wolves on Thursday, Amorim broke the United record for the fewest number of Premier League matches needed to reach his fourth defeat.

In just seven Premier League matches in the United dugout, the Portuguese manager has won only two, while drawing one and losing the other four.

Prior to the loss to Wolves, the record was held by previous manager Erik ten Hag, who reached four Premier League losses as United boss after being in charge for 13 matches.

Amorim has also become the first United manager to lose five of his first 10 games in charge across all competitions since Walter Crickmer in January 1932.

“I manage but I didn’t train [the players],” said Amorim after the loss to Wolves.

“They need time to train, they are completely changing the way of playing, it is really hard on them and for the staff to pass on all the information. When you don’t have results, it’s even harder for them to believe.

“In this moment we just have to survive and to win some time to work on the team. It is a long journey.

"We have to continue to fight these bad moments. We need time to work. We also have to win games to sell the idea to the players. If not, it is really hard.”

When asked whether he felt that United still had a chance of qualifying for European football, the 39-year-old replied: “We have to work on a lot of things in our club, inside the pitch, outside the pitch, so let’s focus on each game, each time.

"We have to use every minute of training and to improve the team.”

In their next Premier League match, United will host Newcastle United on New Year's Eve.
