Nemanja Matic appeared to aim a dig at Andre Onana after the Manchester United goalkeeper produced two costly errors following a war of words between them.
United faced Matic's Lyon side in the Europa League quarter final first leg at the Groupama stadium and drew 2-2 after Rayan Cherki popped up with a last-gasp equaliser.
After going a goal down following Thiago Almada's free-kick which squeezed in, United turned it around with goals from Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee before they were pegged back at the death.
Former United midfielder Matic did the pre-match press conference for the French outfit and called Onana "one of the worst goalkeepers in Man United history".
His comments came after Onana had said United were a better side than Lyon.
The Cameroonian fired back with a brutal dig of his own. He finished a statement on X by writing: "At least I’ve lifted trophies with the greatest club in the world. Some can’t say the same."
But it was Matic who had the last laugh as Onana was at fault for both goals. The former Inter Milan man horribly misjudged the first strike from Almada before spilling the second and allowing Cherki to snatch a draw for Paulo Foncesca's side.
Matic was an unused substitute for the game and the camera panned to him in the 89th minute when United were leading.
There appeared to be no meeting between the two players after their back and forth but Matic was active on social media afterwards.
On his Instagram story, Matic shared a picture of his Filip son with a number of shirts he collected off his former teammates - including Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Amad.
But rather conveniently, the youngster posed right alongside the shirt of third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

Asked if he would consider dropping his goalkeeper, the Portuguese boss added: "No, we’ll continue to do the same thing in training, seeing the game and trying to choose the best eleven to win every match.”
