And in the aftermath of the amazing performance, United star Fernandes has sent a clear message to the striker amid links of a move to the Premier League side.
After scoring during the opener in Sweden's 2-1 win over Slovakia in the Nations League on Saturday, Gyokeres posted a series of images of the match on his Instagram account, writing: "Thanks for yesterday."

Links between Gyokeres and United started after it was confirmed that former Sporting manager Ruben Amorim would be replacing Erik ten Hag as United manager.
During his time at the Portuguese side, Amorim signed the 26-year-old forward from Coventry City in a £20million deal.
Since then, the Swede has managed 66 goals and 19 assists in just 68 appearances for Sporting, while bagging 15 goals for his national team.

But, if a move to United is to happen, it won't be during the upcoming January transfer window after Amorim reportedly promised not to raid his former club this winter.
However, according to Manchester Evening News, there is a gentleman's agreement between Sporting and United that would allow Gyokeres to leave in the summer for around £63m if he stays in Lisbon until the end of the season.
Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the United captain would be keeping an eye on his potential future teammates career abroad
And with Fernandes a self-proclaimed Sporting fan having played there before coming to Old Trafford, he will certainly be aware of his former side's star striker and his performances for both club and country.
