Newcastle have beat Barcelona and Real Madrid to a massive summer signing, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Without manager Eddie Howe as he recovers from pneumonia in hospital, the Magpies thrashed Manchester United 4-1 on Sunday to climb back into fourth spot and firmly in the driving seat to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Newcastle have a crunch game in hand against Crystal Palace on Wednesday and will move above Nottingham Forest into third spot with a victory.
The Carabao Cup winners are on the up and on Tuesday morning, reliable transfer reporter Romano revealed the club have struck a key deal for the summer.
According to the Italian, Newcastle have secured the services of Malaga youngster Antonio Cordero.
The 18-year-old winger, who can play on either flank, had been courted by Newcastle for quite some time now - with the player, his family and representatives flying to Newcastle for discussions with sporting director Paul Mitchell earlier this year.
La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid were both firmly in the race to sign the Spaniard but according to Romano, he chose Newcastle and will move to Tyneside at the end of the summer.
An announcement is set to follow, with Cordero joining on a free transfer on July 1 as his contract at Malaga is nearing expiration.
Cordero has been a regular at Malaga in the second tier this season, making 33 appearances and scoring five goals as well as registering six assists.

Newcastle have also reportedly agreed a four-and-a-half year deal for 18-year-old midfielder Baran Yildiz, who will leave Turkish outfit Genclerbirligi.
With the trio earmarked as stars for the future, it is expected that they are loaned out for experience as part of the next phase of their development.
It will be the responsibility of former Sunderland manager Jack Ross, the club's head of strategic partnerships, to finding suitable clubs which can help aid the progress of all players.
