Fans in total disbelief at what Noel Gallagher said seconds into Man City's game against Sporting

The Oasis member made a shock comment while on commentary.

Fans cannot believe what Noel Gallagher said while commentating on Manchester City's Champions League clash against Sporting.

After a week-long break while English sides played their Carabao Cup, the Champions League returned on Tuesday for the fourth match day of the brand new format.

Liverpool and Manchester City, the two sides topping the Premier League table are both in action, as they face Beyer Leverkusen and Sporting CP respectively.

And, after life-long City fan Gallagher was handed the responsibility of commentating over their match, fans cannot believe the first thing he decided to say.

Before the match, a tribute was paid to Sporting manager Ruben Amorim ahead of his imminent move to Manchester United to take over from Erik ten Hag.

And, despite his club being a fierce rival to the Red Devils, Gallagher took the time on commentary to pay tribute to the new United boss, praising his talents.

Reacting to the Oasis member's commentary, one fan wrote on social media: "Noel Gallagher is on co-comms for TNT tonight. Sure he'll have plenty of constructive advice for Ruben Amorim over the next 90 minutes."

Another added: "No way that's Noel Gallagher on commentary. I thought it was just some random ex city player."

While one wrote: "Noel Gallagher is on co commentary on TNT tonight for the Sporting v City match! WTF! Are we going to have Ed Sheeran on co comms for the Ipswich Town v Man Utd game in a couple of weeks?"

Shortly after kick off, City took the lead after Phil Foden stole the ball in midfield and took it to the Sporting box where he unleashed a strong shot that found the back of the net.

However, Sporting hit back through the in-form Viktor Gyokeres who equalised shortly before half-time.

And immediately after the goal, one fan took the chance to aim another dig at Gallagher, writing: "Noel Gallagher banging on about how easy it is for City. Just before conceding."

City remain unbeaten in the Champions League this season after drawing their opener with Inter MIlan before comfortably beating both Slovan Bratislava and Sparta Praha.
