Jack Grealish branded 'shameless' after what he did following Aston Villa defeat

Jack Grealish branded 'shameless' after what he did following Aston Villa defeat

Manchester City were beaten by Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Manchester City star Jack Grealish has been criticised for making an apparent gesture after losing to Aston Villa.

Pep Guardiola's team's miserable run of poor form continued on Saturday afternoon as they fell to a defeat against Villa.

Unai Emery's men came out 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Jhon Duran and Morgan Rogers. Phil Foden was the scorer for City in stoppage time.

On the back of the result, City dropped to sixth place as Villa climbed above them into fifth.

City star and ex-Villa man Grealish started against his former club but failed to make a positive impact as he received a hostile reception from the home crowd every time he touched the ball.

After the match, a picture of Grealish holding up three fingers went viral on social media.

Many fans speculated that the Englishman may have gestured towards the Villa fans to remind them that he won the Treble with City two seasons ago.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: "Shameless."

Another tweeted: "365 days since his last goal? Fair enough Jack we already knew."

A third fan added: "Head loss alert."

Someone else wrote: "Sooooo shamelesssss. He hasn’t scored in years."

However, there has been no confirmation of the reason why Grealish held up three fingers at the moment the picture was taken.

Speaking after the match, City boss Guardiola said: "We played a really good first half, and the second half we dropped, we were not good. The tempo as the game goes on is a bit more difficult. Congratulations Aston Villa on the victory.

"It can come, it can not come. It depends on us. The solution is bring the players back. We have just one central defender fit, that is difficult. We are going to try next game - another opportunity and we don't think much further than that."

City will be back in Premier League action on Boxing Day when they take on Everton at the Etihad Stadium.
