Man Utd player branded 'worst signing in the club's history' after what he did in Wolves defeat

Manchester United were beaten at home by Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Manchester United fans have singled out one player as the worst signing in the club's history after what he did against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

After their late heroics against Lyon in the Europa League on Thursday night, United were back in Premier League action on Sunday afternoon as they welcomed Wolves to Old Trafford.

During what was a largely disappointing match, Wolves took the lead in the 77th minute thanks to a stunning free-kick by Pablo Sarabia.

That proved to be the winner as Wolves came away with a 1-0 victory, bringing them level on points with the Red Devils in the Premier League table.

With 59 minutes on the clock, Ruben Amorim decided to throw on Mason Mount for Kobbie Mainoo in a bid to liven up his team.

However, the Englishman struggled to make a positive impact and wasted a huge chance when he received the ball inside the box from Alejandro Garnacho.

Mount was unmarked but failed to hit the target as his shot sailed over Daniel Bentley's goal.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: "Mason Mount got to be the worst player to ever play for Manchester United."

Another tweeted: "I find it absolutely diabolical that Mason Mount is our no.7 he’s one of the worst signings in out history."

A third fan added: "Worst signing in Manchester United's history. Dropping stinkers since his arrival. Mason Mount."

Someone else wrote: "How is Mason Mount still playing for United?"

A fifth commented: "Mason Mount isn't it. No matter how many people gaslight me, this guy is average at best."

Another United fan said: "I don't see how we rely on Mason Mount ,he always comes in as a sub but he does nothing to change the match."

Back in the summer of 2023, Mount left boyhood club Chelsea for United in a deal worth a reported fee of £55 million.

However, since moving to Old Trafford, the 25-year-old has been badly hampered by multiple injury problems, resulting in him failing to show his best football.

So far, Mount has only managed one goal in 38 matches across all competitions for the Red Devils.
