Plymouth manager Wayne Rooney is ready to make an ambitious swoop for a player who earned high praise from former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
Rooney, who has succeeded Ian Foster at Home Park, will be aiming to bounce back following a disastrous 83-day spell in charge of Birmingham City.
The former Manchester United striker described the Devon-based club as being "on an exciting long-term journey" as they prepare for what is expected to be a tough season in the Championship.

Plymouth narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the 2023/24 campaign after captain Joe Edwards scored the winner against play-off chasing Hull.
The Pilgrims will likely need to make a number of summer additions if they want to survive. In fact, Rooney is keen to bolster his side's attacking options with a loan signing from Liverpool, according to TEAMtalk.
The report suggests Plymouth will try and take highly-rated teenager Jayden Danns on loan, with Rooney being a 'big admirer' of the forward.

In fact, the Championship side are at the front of the queue if Liverpool decide to loan him out.
Danns made his Premier League debut in Liverpool's 4-1 victory over Luton Town in February and four days later, he was handed more first-team minutes by Jurgen Klopp in their EFL Cup final win against Chelsea.
He replaced Cody Gakpo with three minutes of normal time remaining and impressed many during his short cameo, including former Arsenal striker Ian Wright.
"You look at the young players that came on, even Danns. I’ve not seen too much of him but he came on in that final like an experienced pro the way he played, the way he held the ball," Wright said.

"He didn’t look like he was in awe of anything. He was just in and ready to go. And that is something to do with the aura of Liverpool and what they expect from a player that can come on and ‘this is fine, this is what we’re about’."
Danns also became Liverpool's second youngest ever FA Cup goalscorer after he netted a brace in an fifth round tie against Southampton.
