A second player has reportedly rejected Liverpool after top target Martin Zubimendi turned down the chance to join.
The Spain international, who helped La Roja win Euro 2024, was identified as the ideal option to fit into Liverpool's midfielder under Arne Slot.
With the player reportedly giving his word to sporting director Richard Hughes, everything pointed towards Zubimendi leaving Real Sociedad for Liverpool, who would have had to pay his £51 million release clause.
However, on Monday night it emerged that Zubimendi had decided to turn down a switch to Anfield and decided to stay in San Sebastian.

It follows on from him turning down Arsenal and Bayern Munich to stay at his boyhood club in recent times.
Liverpool fans have been left outraged as they do not look likely to pursue any other targets and may well refrain from making a signing this summer.
But it has been reported that they did make an attempt to hijack a deal, only to be knocked back.
According to Le10sport in France, the Reds tried to beat Paris Saint-Germain to Ecuadorian centre-back William Pacho with a last-minute approach.

Liverpool are also said to have offered a better financial package.
However, the 22-year-old had already committed himself to PSG and kept his word, signing a five-year deal after the Ligue One champions paid €40 million.
While the Merseyside outfit are not expected to look for another No.6, there are reports claiming they are trying to close out a different deal.
