Liverpool fans all fear the same thing about Darwin Nunez after key moment in final pre-season clash

Liverpool fans all fear the same thing about Darwin Nunez after key moment in final pre-season clash

Liverpool fans did not hold back after Darwin Nunez's performance against Las Palmas.

Liverpool fans have taken to social media to react to Darwin Nunez's performance in their final pre-season friendly on Sunday.

In their final friendly match of pre-season, Liverpool took on La Liga side Las Palmas at Anfield.

Despite several first team players starting the game, such as Darwin Nunez and Andrew Robertson, Liverpool failed to score and the match ended 0-0.

However, the Reds did find the back of the net on one occasion, as Nunez scored a goal in the 17th minute, only for it to be flagged offside.

After seeing the news, fans have taken to social media to react to the offside goal, and they have not held back.

Reacting on X, one fan simply wrote: "In other news, water is wet."

Another added: "Nunez and offside have you ever known a duo like it"

While another joked: "God? I know I don’t really ask you for anything, or even believe you exist, but if you’re there, could you please make Darwin onside?"

Although fans have fallen in love with Nunez since he joined the club for Portuguese side Benfica in June 2022, the Uruguayan striker has struggled with his positioning, often leading to goals being ruled offside.

Last season, Nunez was offside 33 times in the Premier League, more than any other player in the league by five.

Despite this, the striker scored 11 league goals, improving on his previous season's tally by two and assisted eight, five more than in the 2022/23 season.

And after impressing over the summer while playing for his country at the Copa America, where he scored two goals in Uruguay's run to the semi-finals, fans remain hopeful that Nunez may enjoy his best season yet at Liverpool under Arne Slot.

The match against Las Palmas wasn't the only friendly that Liverpool played on August 11, as they also took on Spanish side Sevilla in a fixture that morning with a completely different squad.

Liverpool won the match 4-1, with several players impressing including Luis Diaz, who scored a brace, and Diogo Jota and Trey Nyoni who netted the other two goals for the Merseyside club.
