Jamie Carragher has responded to Aston Villa over his Team of the Season selection.
During Sky Sports’ coverage of Liverpool’s 4-2 win over Newcastle United on Monday night, Carragher and Gary Neville were tasked with picking their Team of the Season so far.
The pair managed to agree on eight players as both picked Trent Alexander-Arnold, William Saliba, Virgil van Dijk, Destiny Udogie, Declan Rice, Mohamed Salah, Jarrod Bowen and Son Heung-min.
However, Villa fans were left fuming that none of their players managed to make the cut despite their brilliant start to the 23/24 season.

Unai Emery’s team currently sit second in the Premier League table, three points off leaders Liverpool and are well in the race for a Champions League spot for next season.
Striker Ollie Watkins is perhaps the biggest shout to be included in the Team of the Season so far but the Englishman was overlooked by both Carragher and Neville.
Responding to the criticism on social media, Carragher wrote: “The team of the season is a bit of fun so relax. Not necessarily who we think are the best players, but players who in different circumstances have excelled so far.
“Understand Villa fans frustration, but which player of yours was the biggest omission??”

After one fan questioned the omission of midfielder Douglas Luiz, Carragher replied: “I was only picking one from Luiz, Rodri or Rice.
“I went for Rice because of a couple of late winners which were vital. And joining a new club for a massive fee & playing like he had been there a long time.”

The former Liverpool man was also questioned over his decision to select Bowen ahead of Watkins, Carragher wrote: “Solanke was also in the running along with Haaland!!!!
“Bowen had scored in 11/18 games, plus he scored in 7 consecutive away games which is a record!!”
