Another man who made his mark on the event was Brazilian star Casemiro, who was honoured as one of the 11 players selected for the team.
It was his first honour as part of the FIFPRO World 11.
In a backstage encounter captured by FIFPRO, the paths of Irvine and Casemiro crossed in an extremely wholesome fashion.

Lining up for a photo with the former Real Madrid player, Irvine looks pretty chuffed to be standing next to one of the best in the game.
However, his night is just about to get better.
After the photo is taken it looks as if Casemiro pauses to realise exactly who he had been stopping for a picture with.
He points at Irvine and asks: “You play for Australia, no?”

The St Pauli player confirms the Brazilian's thoughts, as Casemiro remarks: “I know, I see you.”
For someone who has as busy a schedule as possible, you’d forgive the defensive midfielder for not being aware of every player in the game, regardless of where they play.
But you can tell his passion for football goes beyond his play on the field.

Irvine looks rightfully ecstatic and stunned by the exchange, coming to grips with the fact that one of the best in the game is a fan of his work.
As Casemiro exits the room, the Aussie jokes that his legs have buckled from the excitement.
Another person in the room quips: “You’ve gone all red, Jackson.”
He confirms as such, saying: “Mate, I’m sweating!”

An incredibly wholesome exchange and well-deserved for one of Australia’s finest.
Casemiro certainly earned his spot in the FIFPRO World 11, having taken home the Champions League trophy with Real Madrid earlier in 2022.
He has also been credited with helping completely turn around Manchester United since his transfer to the Red Devils, becoming a fan favourite while he’s at it.
He’ll have to work more of that magic in the wake of United’s mammoth 7-0 loss to Liverpool.
