A new report has revealed how close Arsenal are to Brighton's valuation of Leandro Trossard - and how Tottenham had a bid dismissed for the player.
Fabrizio Romano revealed on Thursday morning that the Gunners had opened talks with Brighton over Trossard as they turn to alternatives after missing out on Mykhailo Mudryk.
The Belgium international was dropped by Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi for the side's 3-0 win over Liverpool on Saturday due to disciplinary issues.

However, De Zerbi did say that Trossard's Brighton career was not necessarily over, telling Italian outlet Repubblica (quotes via talkSPORT): "Everyone in the dressing room knows how things went. But if Trossard wants to rejoin us with the right attitude, I am happy to coach him."
The 28-year-old has scored seven goals and provided two assists for Brighton this season, but hasn't been involved in a goal contribution since the 3-2 win over Wolves on November 5.
His current deal expires this summer, but Brighton hold an option to extend it until the summer of 2024 and appear likely to do so if he does not leave in January.
His last start for the club could end up being against his future side, with the Belgian playing 59 minutes in the 4-2 defeat to Arsenal earlier this month.

Now, Romano more details have been revealed about the Gunners' interest - and how Spurs look set to miss out on the winger.
Arsenal nearing Trossard deal
The Daily Mail's Sami Mokbel has revealed on Twitter that Arsenal are around £6 million away from Brighton's valuation for Trossard.
He says that the Gunners have bid £20 million, with the Seagulls looking for a fee of £26 million to allow the winger to leave the Amex Stadium in January.

And Premier League broadcaster Charlie Haffenden has claimed that Spurs' bid for the player was 'laughed off', with Antonio Conte's side now on the back foot in the race to sign Trossard.
Arsenal will be hopeful of closing the gap in valuations for the Belgium international, or they may pay the £26 million outright to ensure they are able to bring in a new wide player in January.
