New footage emerges that 'proves' why Leandro Trossard shouldn't have been sent off against Man City, it changes everything

Leandro Trossard was controversially shown a second yellow card during Manchester City vs. Arsenal.

New footage has emerged of Leandro Trossard's controversial sending off against Manchester City and it changes everything.

Trossard was shown a second yellow card by Michael Oliver for delaying the restart during his side's crunch Premier League fixture at the Etihad.

The Arsenal winger, who had already been booked, fouled Bernardo Silva before smashing the ball across the pitch.

Oliver swiftly made his decision as he sent off Trossard to reduce Arsenal to 10 men just before the break.

But new footage that has emerged sheds more light on the dismissal and it tells a different story.

When Trossard pulled his leg back to kick the ball, the match referee can be seen holding the whistle in his mouth and signally for a free-kick, seemingly showing the dismissal was a harsh one.

The Gunners were leading 2-1 at the time of Trossard's red card following goals from Riccardo Calafiori, who cancelled out Erling Haaland's opener, and Gabriel.

Mikel Arteta's team nearly produced a defensive masterclass in the second-half until John Stones equalised in the dying seconds.

Speaking after the game, Arteta said: "We were more efficient and went 2-1 up and then there were two incidents, very similar, one in particular, but had a very different outcome which then forces you to have a game which nobody wants to watch.

"I think it's very clear. Very obvious. Hopefully what 100 per cent of what people thinks. It's not my job to come here and judge what happened. My job is to survive in the most difficult environment you can throw in football for 55 minutes. And try to get things done to survive. That's my job, the rest is not my job."

Referencing a similar incident regarding Declan Rice against Brighton, the Arsenal boss added: "It's already the second time it has happened in five games, which is really, really worrying if we want to see the best Premier League.

"Anyone that has played football or any sport [can see] it's less than a second. Less than a second. The previous one [Doku] is more than a second. That's it, simple."
