Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn will go ahead, despite Benn anti-doping test issue

Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn will still go ahead as planned on Saturday night, despite Benn's reported anti-doping test issue.

Eubank Jr and Benn will meet in a catchweight clash at the O2 Arena this weekend to settle their long-standing family feud.

The bout was thrown into jeopardy on Wednesday afternoon after reports claimed Benn had been told of an adverse finding by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association [VADA].

Matchroom Boxing and Wasserman Boxing have since released a joint statement confirming the positive test took place, but no rule violation has been confirmed as a B sample hasn't been tested.

Benn has since tested negative for the substance in a test conducted by the UK Anti-Doping Agency [UKAD].

Both fighters want the fight to happen after receiving legal and medical advice.

The statement reads: "We have been made aware that a random anti-doping test for Conor Benn conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping, Association returned an adverse analytical finding for trace amounts of a fertility drug.

"The B sample has yet to be tested, meaning that no rule violation has been confirmed. Indeed, Mr Benn has not been charged with any rule violation, he is not suspended, and he remains free to fight.

"Mr Benn has since passed a doping control test conducted by the UK Anti-Doping Agency, the anti-doping authority to which the British Board of Boxing Control has delegated its doping control testing for the bout. Mr Benn has passed all doping control tests conducted by UKAD.

"Both fighters have taken medical and legal advice, are aware of all relevant information, and wish to proceed with the bout this Saturday."

Eubank Jr is the son of Chris Eubank and Benn is the son of Nigel Benn, two fighters who were embroiled in a bitter feud during the 90s.

Last month, Eubank Sr threatened to pull his son from the fight over concerns regarding his weight.

'Next Gen' usually fights at super middleweight and agreed to drop to 157lbs for the contest, as well as a rehydration clause.

The rehydration clause prevents Eubank Jr from bulking up on fight night.

Benn, meanwhile, is a welterweight and will be moving up in weight for the fight.
